Accessibility statement

How accessible this website is, where it falls short, and how to tell us if something doesn't work for you.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AAA, the highest level, wherever it is practical. When we change the website, we check the changes against that standard.

What we have done

  • Text has a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 against its background, and large text at least 4.5:1.
  • Headings, prices and descriptions are real text, never pictures of text.
  • Everything can be used with a keyboard alone, including menus, filters and forms, and you can always see where you are on the page.
  • Links and buttons say where they go or what they do, so they make sense on their own.
  • Pages use clear headings, long pages have a list of links to each section, and help pages link to each other so you always know where you are.
  • Nothing flashes, and nothing moves or changes unless you choose: slideshows only change when you press a button, and pop-ups only open when you ask for them.
  • Choosing an option or filling in a field never takes you to another page or sends a form on its own.
  • Forms explain what is needed and let you check and correct your details before you send them.

Known limitations

  • Many product photos do not have their own text description yet. Until they do, screen readers read out the product name instead. We are adding descriptions to every photo.
  • Some newer products do not have a photo or a full description yet.
  • Some parts of the site come from other services and are outside our control: the Google map on our Contact and About pages, and the Shop Pay, PayPal and Google Pay sign-in and payment screens at checkout.
  • Our privacy policy and terms are written in legal language, so they are harder to read than the rest of the site (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.1.5, Reading Level). We have not simplified them because that could change their legal meaning. If you would like a plain-English explanation of any part, please contact us.
